It’s more than just FOOTBALL, it’s also a time of sharing your FAITH through FELLOWSHIP with these young men!!! Oasis of Hope hosts the Manassas High School football team to come to a three-day camp based out of Hope Presbyterian Church. Our volunteers then have the incredible chance to not only improve the boys' physical game play, but more importantly their spiritual game. Bible studies, prayer and one-on-one attention are interspersed into their athletic training. It's an awesome platform that allows our volunteers to provide Positive Role Models, Biblical Instruction, Teamwork, and the guy-time they've been missing in their lives. Please volunteer your time during football camp or sponsor a football player for $50 today, you can donate online (and then come and cheer them on during a game)!

2010 ManRise Camp Opening Night  - July 29, 2010

Dinner with Manassas Players and Hope Volunteers – Time: 8:15pm – Where: Hope Youth Area

This is where you can come and have dinner with all of the players and coaches from Manassas High School. We are hoping to have every individual player eating dinner with someone from Hope Church.  In the past, this has proven to be one of the most memorable events offered during ManRise football camp.  Folks are now signing up for their dinner spot!   There are various ManRise Camp volunteer time slots available to be filled by all those that would like to participate in making this years camp a huge success.

We will be holding a ManRise Volunteer Meeting on Tuesday evening – July 27th at 6:00pm at Hope Church in Room 104 - next to Urban Missions Offices.  This will be a Q & A forum for all volunteers prior to camp beginning, we encourage all to attend!

To Sign Up:  CONTACT:  Karen Durham at (901)529-0130 or email Karen.

ManRise Football Camp 2009 ... It Was Incredible!

July 30-August 2, 2009, 65 inner city high football players from Manassas High - a secular, public school - came to Hope Church for not only football skills training, but to learn about Jesus Christ.  Is that AMAZING or what?   You might want to re-read that and think about the opportunity we have to impact, mentor, guide and support these boys during a crucial time in their lives.  Oasis of Hope hosts the Manassas High School football team every year to come to a three-day camp based out of Hope Presbyterian Church called ManRise. Volunteers are matched up with individual players who then go and cheer on their mentee during the football season.  It is truly ... incredible!

The Manassas Tigers kicked off their 2009 season Friday night in a game against St. George's. While the Tigers came up short, 24-12, they showed a lot of heart. After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, the Tigers changed up their defense and outplayed St. George's the rest of the way.

The Tigers scored on nice runs by both Antonio and Will. Having to play from behind in the 4th quarter, the Tigers were forced into a couple of key turnovers which took away any hopes they had of coming back to pull out a victory. It was a tough lose for the Tigers. However, they have the heart, talent, and dedication to bounce back and put together a nice season.

The Tigers received great support from both their North Memphis Community and the people of Hope Church. The crowd was large and was ready to cheer the Tigers on to victory. A huge thank you to all that came out. The next game is Friday, September 4 in Jackson, Tn against Trinity Christian. The next game in the Memphis area will be Friday, September 18 at BTW against Trezevant. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us.
