Did you know that Oasis of Hope offers a program for senior citizens that operates Monday-Friday out of the Bickford Community Center every week? It's just one of the many ministries that are reaching out to individuals and families in this North Memphis neighborhood.
Who says inner city kids don't enjoy the country? View our photo gallery of what went on when 10 of our kids from the Oasis neighborhood attended a week-long camp, inner city style. In the words of the kids, camp was 'crunking exciting!' ... 'superman crazy hype!' ... 'freaky & weird!'
July 30-August 2, 2009, 75 inner city high football players from Manassas High - a secular, public school - came to Hope Church for not only football skills training, but to learn about Jesus Christ. Our volunteers have the incredible chance to not only improve the boys' physical game play, but more importantly their spiritual game. Bible studies, prayer and one-on-one attention are interspersed into their athletic training.
We are so thrilled to have already outgrown our initial storefront and have been gifted a rent-free, bigger location to be opening soon! Many thanks to the Men's Group for doing the renovation work!
“Without the Oasis of Hope, I don’t believe I would be in church or trying to do right and be a leader. I think I would’ve gone to juvenile court, and I probably wouldn’t know how the true love of God feels.”
