Rayford, Humes Middle Baseball PitcherRayford, a 13-year-old Humes Middle School Baseball team member, started pitching for the first time this spring under Coach Michael who is a volunteer Coach for Oasis of Hope.  In Rayford's own words, "I was nervous when I first started pitching, because I had never pitched before. It was fun when I started learning, but I had a lot to learn. All I knew was to throw the ball to the catcher - that's all."

But, incredibly, Rayford pitched 13 strikeouts in his first game! The Humes Middle School Baseball team finished the season with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses.

"Coach Mike taught me the basics, and I thank him. The Lord blessed me with a great arm, a great coach and also a good team," says Rayford. "I want to thank a lot of people for helping me - Coach Mike, Coach Reaves, Coach Tim, Coach Barry, Coach Norm, Mr. Terry and my team."

"It was only Rayford's second full season of playing baseball. He continues to work hard this summer, and all of his coaches are very proud of the young man he is becoming," says Coach Michael.

Way to go, Rayford! Keep up the hard work! Thank you to all of the volunteer coaches for helping to make this season a success for Humes Middle!
